Press and Journal back transit study

An amazing editorial showing by The Grand Rapids Press and Business Journal last month with headings like "Study transit needs" and "Transit Study Must Proceed Now." (Subscription required) Recently, both have come out with opinions for why this matter should move forward. These pieces are a stunning show of support that Kent County and suburban communities should fund a needs study to examine demand for county-wide transit. The move by both papers represent a changing wind; more should be done in local transit. Not to simply expand transit, but to make transit a metropolitan issue -- which it should be. A concept that is needed when Downtown is the proverbial steam engine gaining increadible momentum. Or, when parking has become the crux to the sustainability of Downtown's grand revitalization.
